Commercial Driving License CDL Medical Exams
Obtaining a CDL requires passing a medical exam to ensure that you are physically fit to operate a commercial vehicle. This exam must be conducted by a medical professional listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

The purpose of the CDL medical exam is to determine whether an individual is physically capable of safely operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). This includes evaluating vision, hearing, blood pressure, and other medical conditions that could potentially affect a driver's ability to operate a CMV safely.

The CDL medical exam includes a review of the driver's medical history, a physical examination, and a vision test. Drivers may also be required to undergo additional testing, such as a sleep study or a cardiovascular evaluation, depending on the specific medical conditions they have.
It is important to note that drivers must pass the CDL medical exam every two years in order to maintain their CDL. If a driver's medical condition changes or deteriorates significantly, they may be required to undergo additional medical evaluations in order to continue operating a CMV.

It is also important for drivers to understand that certain medical conditions may disqualify them from obtaining a CDL. These conditions include, but are not limited to:
-
Insulin-dependent diabetes
-
Epilepsy
-
Cardiac insufficiency
-
Cognitive or mental disorders
